I admit, I don’t get the idea of retreating just to save that damaged Carrier. You had 2 German planes on the hook which you could have killed safely. I think this would have bee my highest priority.
Sorry Adam for talking strategy, I hope my talk is “hindsight” enough so that it does not affect the upcoming game and I doubt we will have another situation like in 112 again in this game.
So I hope it is ok. I would have more to say about this turn but this would definitely be inappropriate.
It’s an interesting game for sure and I always strive to improve to understand a map and whether it is worth fighting for one side or the other.
In the past (Vanilla) I saw position that I thought were lost for the Axis but they managed to get the win. Recently I tended to overestimate Axis positions in BM. In this game I think Axis is past the point they can be stopped but I appreciate giving it a good fight, especially as the situation in Europe is certainly non standards.

Whenever Germans, Italians and Japanese occupy China entirely, the “unholy trinity”-sacrament gets activated creating an immortal Chinese unit that spawns in the Himalaya and that can shoot a rocket each turn PRIOR to the actual Chinese turn. The rocket auto-hits and removes a hostile unit. As this is prior to the Chinese turn, a Chinese inf will spawn in the affected territory in case only one unit occupied it.
The rule was designed to make it harder to hold China in case all Axis powers invaded it. Thus, the Axis need at least 2 units per territory in order to prevent it from spawning guerrillas.

I agree with you guys on the carrier. I’ll comment more when I have more time, but I got stuck on a certain idea about how things were going to play out that made the carriers a higher priority than the German fighters. Had I been a bit smarter about it, the carriers would have gone first and I would have finished the combat with the US. It would have opened up a possibility for the British too to hit Novgorod.

sorry for the delay in posting. The Russia turn itself was fairly simple but I had to figure out what I would likely do with the UK, and US and that took a bit of time.
And JDOW, I knew I was in trouble already, but my position in Russia feels more like a house of cards to me now than it did before. I had figured I was going to be defeated on the pacific front but thought that I could turn it in Europe, but now I think a loss on either side is equally likely.
Regarding that earlier combat with the German fleet and air, I just got stuck with the wrong understanding of what would likely occur. An option I had was to bring the US destroyer, and hope to wipe out the fleet and the subs. This would have created an opening for a British landing in West Germany (with decent if not great odds if Adam scrambled and lost the sea battle to the US). This was tempting. But my odds with the US were lower if I did that and I figured he probably would have not scrambled (making a successful UK landing very unlikely). If he didn’t scramble and I didn’t hit the subs, I was worried that he would be able to counter attack the British/American fleet. My thinking was that since i could use the British air to finish the job I could retreat the US carrier and fighters to reduce that possibility. I forgot, of course, that his air was likely to be the last units destroyed and so any survivors would add more to his attack than the carriers to my defense. I also thought the carrier is useful later on since it will repair. Hopefully I can make that worthwhile.

As you said, I am afraid there is no way the Allies can stop the Axis.
I definitely do not understand how you could not build an IC in Norway, did this one extra bomber make the difference?As said, I find it extremely hard to make progress against Germany. I believe you have to take big risks in order to so. Invite an attack on the Russian army or try a risky attack on the German stack.
Also, next to trying a landing in Western Europe you might consider to split the Russian forces and secure them with allied air.
Example: In case Finland and Norway are Allied controlled you might have want to try to bring a Russian stack next to Leningrad and try to take that 7 income away from Germany with Russian/US/UK combined forces. -
The IC is coming. You are probably right that it should have happened the first turn I had Norway instead of one bomber and it almost did. But the bombers can reach either theatre, I figured I had enough air in the vicinity of Russia (the possibility of that tank and mech group returning wasn’t as scary to me as it probably should have been), and I was worried about how many bombers I would have left in Europe after the attack on his navy (since the build was prior to the combat I didn’t want to barely wipe out his fleet only to have him immediately in a position to safely rebuild.
