Welcome to the forum.
You are correct.
Sculpts

BJN,
You want to know how many of what sculpts are in A&A 1941? You’re in luck as I happen to already have a list.
Each country gets the same number of pieces:
Infantry 8, Tank 5, Fighter 4, Bomber 2, Carrier 2, Battleship 2, Destroyer 2, Submarine 3, and Transport 4.What sculpts (piece shapes) do you get?
There is one sculpt for each type of unit for the Allied powers and one for the Axis powers, with the exception of the Infantry sculpts:
Allies
Infantry-national “fighting man” (which is the same for each country but unique to that country), Tank USSR’s IS-2 Stalin,
Fighter USA’s P-40 Warhawk, Bomber UK’s Lancaster,
Carrier USSR’s Kostromitinova class (never built in real life), Battleship UK’s Admiral class (HMS Hood),
Destroyer USA’s Sumner class, Submarine UK’s U / Undine class, and Transport UK/Canada’s Fort class.Axis
Infantry-national “fighting man”, Tank Germany’s Tiger I,
Fighter Germany’s Fw-190, Bomber Germany’s He-111,
Carrier Japanese Akagi class, Battleship Japanese Kongo class,
Destroyer Japanese Akizuki class, Submarine Japanese Kaichu type, and Transport Japanese Yamazuki Maru class.-Midnight_Reaper

Excellent :-D Thanks!…Midnight Reaper
This is exactly what I was looking for…
Now I just need to add them all up.

Two things I would add to my above:
The infantry pieces in 1941 are identical to the infantry in the rest of the game (excepting color change over the years e.g. Germany gray to black, UK tan to green to tan, etc). While that means you can chuck them into your 42.2 or your 40.2 with no problems, it also means that they can’t really be used to denote elite or special units without modifying them.
Krieghund was kind enough to answer a thread over on Larry’s forum with a list of all of the sculpt choices for all the powers in all the games, from original A&A Europe to now. I don’t have the mojo to post clickable links, but you can find it in the General Discussion section titled: “Anyone with info on sculpts?”.
That’s the master list for everything, at least officially.

I will take a look in Larry’s forum, there might some answers to some of the unsolved issues there inevitably will be combining the games.
I kinda hoped getting the 1941 box (or two of them ) would have me covered at a reasonable expense, but the numbers covering each unit are insufficient, and some units will still be missing. Covering elite and special troops might not be a problem, as I can settle for roundels, at a reasonable expense or even homemade.Eventually I will have to look into HBG or some other site for supplements😊👍
Thanks again for your comments.

There are a few additional options that I can think of for getting more pieces on the cheap.
One is the game Attack! (BGG Link). They can be a source of Elite or Special infantry, a different type of Artillery, a different type of Armored unit, and a different type of aircraft. If you go for the Expansion or Deluxe edition (BGG link for Deluxe), you also get naval units: a new Battleship or Cruiser, a new Carrier (I think they make great escort carriers), a new Destroyer, and a new Submarine. If you find that buying the games for the pieces is a bridge too far for your wallet, you can order sprues of units directly from Eagle-Gryphon Games: Land Units http://www.eaglegames.net/product-p/101950.htm and Naval Units http://www.eaglegames.net/product-p/101944.htm.
Another option is to use a set of pieces from Risk. Yes, that Risk. Infantry for Militia, Artillery for Coastal Artillery, and Cavalry for, well, Cavalry. Just a thought.

I own both halves of the “Attack” game (it was originally sold in two parts, like A&A Europe 1940 and Pacific 1940, and frankly I dislike the design of most of the sculpts. The artillery pieces are the only equipment units that could be used alongside the A&A ones without looking too out of place. The ships are dreadful. The airplane has a puffy appearance, almost like an inflated toy, and the tank is a weird imaginary semi-retro WWI-ish design with lots of rivets. Keep in mind that Attack is set in an alternate-history version of the late 1930s, populated by imaginary countries, and the sculpt designs reflect this bizarre setting. The infantry unit design is somewhat better, but the soldiers have a rather bulky and frumpy apperance; they might do as militia troops of some sort, but not as elite units. As for Risk, the versions I’m familiar with have sculpts which are very small compared to the A&A ones – too small to be usable, in my opinion.

I don’t disagree with anything that CWO Marc has to say about the Attack! pieces or about the Risk pieces. I mention them as cheap options, not as ultra perfect sculpts.
For some, ability to be bought for cheap has a quality all its own. To each, their own.

Fair enough. In fact, I think Stalin once similarly said (in reference to military forces) that “Quantity has a quality all of its own.” And in more general terms: if a particular solution satisfies the operational requirements of a particular problem, even without being optimal in other ways, then it’s at least worthy of consideration.

Well, funny as time goes by, and I have studied the various options and posts….the urged for a more realistic setup grows on me :?The “Attack” option might work for all neutrals, pretty or not…the Risk option I don’t fancy too much…small units about a century older than the rest of the board, nahhh!
With regard, to the use of 1941 box set, I may regret that in the long run, looking at the wrong units, may annoy the eye and the enjoyment of the game, so what’s left then??
A major investment in small plastic pieces from HBG?I just wonder…

The price of a Risk game which ends-up giving you a bunch of tiny Napoleonic infantry that are too small, and wearing funny hats from the 1800s in pastel colors is a very poor choice to supplement A&A with… for the same price or less of a copy of Risk, you can buy an awful lot of proper A&A infantry from HBG, considering most infantry from HBG are in the 10cent to 20cent range.

Yep….Eventually I am properly going to go for the expensive, yet more enjoyable version of Global with HBG supplys to fill in the empty gap’s…and they are many in regard to Global 1936!! Collecting and customizing is actually part of the enjoyment, when no games are up anyway, so I don’t mind if my quest for pieces is prolonged…as long as my Risk pieces haven’t occupied my A&A board.
