Jap player could sometimes not do pearl, in tempting US to come to pacific.
All Jap units could be used on mainland J1.
If UK goes all in, those units should be killed, though.
Problem with not doing pearl, is that US may send the pac fleet against Japan, and still build everyhing in EUS.
Pressure on Germany would be the same, the US pac fleet uses 3-4 rnds before it’s in European waters.
If US catches the bait, pressure on Germany will be much weaker.

I personally think buying German naval units in the Baltic are not that worth it because the Allies should do the following:

Russia should constantly harass Germany and not allow them a foothold in Karelia. If Germany moves into Karelia without sufficient forces (which happens when they purchase naval units), then Russia takes out Karelia thereby weakening German land forces. With weakened land forces, Germany loses the threat against Russia

UK builds the Aircraft Carrier, transports and fighters (R1, R2) then corners the German fleet in the Baltic (R3). Either Germany attacks the UK fleet and will lose its fighters and fleet in the process. Or UK attacks the German fleet with minimal losses if the fighters wisely choose to abandon the Baltic fleet. Or UK attaks with some losses if the fighters stay on (but its worth it to kill the German fighters)

US loans UK the 2 transports and destroyer as fodder in case the German navy attacks, while they keep building transports into Africa.

Then you have a 3 on 1 against Germany with no Japanese help against Russia until R5, R6. Anyways, my 2 cents

I have found that in my first few rounds playing germany, I was much to aggressive. Usually I get so burned out pounding Russia, that by the time that I am in striking distance or moscow i am unable to fend off US/UK assaults into WE, SE etc. I agree with the previous posts that suggest a solid INF and FIG anchor. Since you always have the advantage on the defensive, let Russia burn its self out on a what it think is a conservative germany, meanwhile you destroy/delay the US/UK shucks with a combine german fleet on SZ 12, with a FIG stack in WE. Russia will be so tickled pink to get those extra 3-5 IPCs that it my become overly aggressive. Whenever an ally sticks a vulnerable army out, you will be in position to lop it off. All the while Japan weakens Russia, and moves in for the kill. Of course this only works in a KGF came. If Japan gets tied down Germany is living on borrowed time.

My opening German move to attack UK fleet is ussually kinda like this (the availability of my fighters depends on russian player of course…)

Sub z8 attacks z2 along with Bomber from germany, fighter norway. (a bit risky move i know…)

Battleship z14 to z 13 along fighter from france

Transport z 14 to z 15 along fighter from balkans,

What i buy is situated to the actions of the russian player, but either i go a battle ship and 3 tanks, or 8 tanks or 6 tanks and a transport to put in italy… Option on 4 tanks and a transport (italy) and a destroyer (baltic sea) have crosed my mind…

Any thoughts?

Mayhem, we too play with NAs. Actually we did two games in a row with all NAs. On the first game, Germany bought 1 AC and 3 subs on G1. That left him with very little ground force but he just held his cocoon and on G2 built just INF and ART to compensate. In the end, Axis won the game and the subs made the Allies loose at least 60 IPC through the course of the game (which wasn’t very long, maybe 7 turns). Plus the allies were always threatened by a mighty fleet of 1 AC, 1 DD, 5 subs (attacking on 3s), and 2 trannies (one of which was built later on) plus all german air force.

In our second game, Germany made a G1 purchase of 1 AC and 8 INF. Every turn thereafter Germany purchased 1-2 subs. The end results was the same, an Axis victory, but it was a lot safer against Russia with the additionnal 8 INF on G1.

No matter if you play with NA or not, a G1 buy of an AC is HIGHLY recommended.
