For a game with a +100 allied bid, the Axis are not in too bad of a position after nearly 1 full round… I thought that it would be far worse at this point.
Continue tomorrow, yeah you are doing OK, nice to get 3 hits in 97 with no scramble, that saves you some. But all in all I have achieved most of the things I wanted to do.
Yup, Africa is yours very early on in the game and the Atlantic is clear of German ships with a fair bit of UK fleet still remaining. Gibraltar is never going to fall into Italian hands and the income for the Indian + ANZAC countries are going to be very good.
Obviously the Allies are in a much better position than they normally are at this point, but it isn’t a game-over situation for the Axis. What I feared the most was a large number of Russian planes that would swoop into China, making it impossible for Japan to contain China. After finishing that mission, they would fly back to Moscow to obliterate German troops. Ten fighters to start the game would have been absolutely devastating. I think that I would be giving up at this point…
Yeah, I did not really consider buying 10 russian fighters……In my book that is almost the same as stacking Yunnan with 30 infantry. But then again, the nature of the bid is to “destroy” a part of the original set-up. I guess I am doing the same thing, just differently in the middle east/africa/med
Planes in Moscow can reach Yunnan on round 1. If you build 1 Chinese infantry in Yunnan during the bid and have additional Russian fighters in Moscow, Volgograd, and Caucasus that all can make it to Yunnan om R1, there is a massive defensive force there. Japan has only a 5% chance of success on a J1 attack on Yunnan.
The following round, you will have twelve additional Chinese infantry that can make it to Yunnan, along with planes that started in other Russian territories can reach on R2. The Tank and mech on Volgograd can reach Yunnan on R2. Japan has a 60-70% chance to take Yunnan on J2 if they are willing to sacrifice their entire air force. If you didn’t like your odds of holding Yunnan for the Allies, just retreat back one space. The Russians can reclaim Yunnan on R3 using the tank+mech+planes; China and the India can followup on their turns to defeat any Japanese units that moved into the territory. China might have close to 30 ground units by the end of there third turn! It will take almost 100% of Japan’s spending to just contain China. Easy win for the Allies.

Yes, nice to see stiff french resistance…… I am drinking french wine, so it might be tomorrow…I think you were set up for a G2 in this game? Probably makes not a big deal for moscow, but was slightly worried about my novogorod dudes beeing deadzoned/retreat to archangel. Doesnt really make much of a diff though
