Help with A&A

i recently bought A&A and installed it.
but every time i try to play it i get a message saying : " Axis and Allies has encountered a problem and needs to close"

I thought maybe i needed to download a patch or some thing since im on window’s XP. but i cant find a good link to download the patch…

so… do i need to install the patch to make if work? if so a link would be nice, and if not what do i need to do?
