Defend your fleet with BB’s and DSTs… if it is not laready too late.

ncsswitch - That’s what we did, but Britain didn’t have the spare cash, and America kept losing the ships she built.
Nix - You bet…when I posted, Russia was down to MOS and CAU…game ended yesterday with an Allied concession after the fall of Moscow to the Japanese.
That is when you drop BACK a turn, build up, THEN advance.
Probably a moot point for your current game (you are likely in a hole you can no longer dig out of), but when faced with that scenario of combined NA’s again, you will know to start out with multiple rounds of naval builds BEFORE you advance on Europe so that you have plenty of fodder, TRNs, BB’s and DST’s first. :-)
It wasn’t really an issue early in the game…we had our carriers, and Japan was busy elsewhere. It wasn’t until Japan started sending fighters to Paris (just before beginning his Big Push on Moscow) that we had complete disarray with our transport chain.
Pulling back for a round of building would have been great…except Japan had Long Range Aircraft (only cost him 10 IPCs too!)
Germany had already spent some cash on it, but failed to get the tech, but we were worried that if we took the pressure off we’d suddenly have an even bigger problem.
Russia really held her own in that game…probably a lot longer than she should have…even took Balkans and E. Europe at one point. But with little help from US/UK, it was just a matter of time.
Meh…I’m Japan next game. I’m crossing my fingers for Banzai Infantry, Tokyo Express, and Most Powerful Battleships. Coupled with some combined bombardment, I’ll make sure the Allies stay the hell off of the coasts! :-D
not to rain on your NA parade, but there’s a problem with your game play scenario:
1). It’s random. No rhyme nor reason or continuity for your NAs
2). Not all the NA’s are balanced, which can lead to imbalanced games as you experienced.
Suggestion:

Well I’ve only played one game under those rules, but it seems to me any other strategy by the Axis leaves them too spread out. The Allies are even more capable of joint efforts than before, with the new NAs and lower naval unit costs, and this works against the Axis considerably.
Maybe things will be different next game, but I plan to be the Allies, so… :-D

It will likely wind up that we will use the Enhanced NA’s with the old LHTR rules…should be just as fun. :-)
Build up in SZ 2 sending America ships to SZ 1 then over to SZ 2. Get a few carriers and fighters, lots of transports. The two battleships you start with should be fine. As long as you can move the American carriers into the area with British fighters before Germany can go, you should be okay to land troops. Though, it’s a new tactic by the axis to me.
I have to assume Russia’s gone, because otherwise, Japan would soon run out of fighters or be pushed off the mainland by Russian hoardes.
