new map 2023.jpg
I have done one by myself…way better.
Mr Ghoul, on average for all of these would you seek out a website? Visit it regularly? Post articles or comments? Participate in forums?
@Mr:
GMT’s The Napolenoic Wars
GMT’s Sword of Rome
GMT’s Barbarossa to Belin
Horror Clix
CCG- Mythos
Yes I would and I have. The GMT games usually need a errata posted to clarify rules and they encourage feedback.
Alas, I spend all of my gaming time on ONE game on ONE site (I think everyone knows which one)
MW, could you just give me a list of some of the other games you play. No need to answer the questions for each of them.
kk, well I also play Diplomacy, Taboo, Pictionary……mmmmmmmm does chess count as well?
Games I play
All Axis & Allies variants in descending order of taking playing time up (BOTB, Revised, Pacific, D-Day, Europe)

I play a few card game from time to time a big on in the army was spades. A fun one we also played was “Right, Left, Center.” This one was easy you didn’t need to buy the game we made cards out of the cardboard the MRE’s came in. The cards were labeled you guessed it Right, Left, Center. One Joe brought poker chips over w/ us. you all start out with the same amount of chips draw your card and do what it says, by passing your chip. Its a stupidly addicting game. We used it to break up the day overseas.
Chess
Go (I suck at it)
Settlers, Seafarers, and Cities and Knights of Catan. (Mostly Settlers, really, hard to find people for other variations)
Monopoly (It’s not a kid’s game!)
Poker, euchre, spades, hearts, watever
Magic the Gathering
Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000
Dungeons and Dragons
Scrabble
Drinking games (far less now, 'cos I mostly quit drinking . . . mostly . . .)
Currently in my Board Game rotation:
Chez Geek
Lunch Money
Fluxx
Tsuro: The Game of the Path
Settlers of Catan
Ninja Burger
Axis & Allies: D-Day
Scattergories
Apples to Apples
RPG Short Shelf
D&D 3.5
Spycraft V.1
Star Wars D20
L5R 1st Edition
And I actually played a couple games of Doomtown CCG the other day.
I also played Ticket to ride a little bit. That’s a fun game, can’t wait to play more. Haven’t checked out a website for it, and don’t think I would.

Alright !!!
Anyone play mgto?
Anyone play mgto?
What’s that, Magic the Gathering Online with a typo?
Srsly, I don’t know what it is.
I’ve played a couple of games of Colosseum. It’s a great game. I recommend reading reviews but not any strategy articles. In this game it is kinda fun to realize mid-way towards the end that you screwed up, and so did everybody else at the table.
Has anyone played Memoir '44? It’s a D-Day game that supposedly can be played in under an hour, might be a good way to get the fix without the full-day commitment that A&A is.
I have not played Memoir '44 but have played Battle Cry which is the same system but set in the Civil War. It is fun but it has what we describe as a backgammon sort of feel to it– did you play well or were you really lucky or both?
More so than other games with dice because there is also a deck of cards which tells where you can order units. If you get a timely card draw an untenable position can turn around 180 degrees. Or your perfectly positioned troops can sit idly with an untimely one.
All in all Battlecry is fun and the modular terrain system that lets you set up different battlefields is very cool. It is a good “beer & pretzels” game and you can get 2 or 3 games in in 2 hours.
Here is link to the “official” Memoir '44 site:

lol yeah :-P
The big two for me are Britannia (I was a playtester) and Kingmaker (Unofficial Advanced Kingmaker)
I’m also doing a map for Blood Royal (which FF might be redoing at some point),
I’ve done a map for Wars of the Roses and have been trying to persuade the designer to correct a few little historical errors. Like putting Warwickshire where Worcestershire should be. Hmmm, at least he didn’t put Gloucester in Cumbria… :-D
OK, I guess I will update my info…
Axis and Allies (revised exclusively at this point having retired from Classic)
Monopoly (for fun with other couples, especially the strip variant!)
Poker (again, strip variant preferred)
AD&D (Been playing since the late 1970’s, though little opportunity lately)
Black Isle Games (Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale) Quite fun PC games
Old Arcade Games: Graviton, Asteroids, Lunar Lander, Centipede, etc.
