Assuming America has Heavies Japan can still defend its fleet for at least a few turns with 2bb cv 2ftrs. Japan can even purchase an additional carrier to help in this. But it isn’t certain that American Heavy bombers could reach the sea of Japan assuming Japan has pushed Russia back to Moscow. At the very least transports give Japan a few turns to roll tech in reponse to American heavy bombers, but when Japan has a few ICs on the board America can immediately nuke the Japanese.

Is a really bad idea assuming the Germans have built up a really big stack there.

Pacific is best for 2 people. Plus you can add a third if the time comes. I love classic, but thats best with 4 or 5 people.

maybe you didn’t fully read his question, he asked if he was allowed to use the same fighters he used for naval combat, in land combat, durring the same turn. That isn’t allowed

Currently, Axis & allies, and the expansion, Axis & Allies: Iron Blitz, exist. I prefer to use Iron Blitz as it doesn’t tend to be as slow. Don’t bother trying to buy either game, they are very hard to find. I downloaded A&A off Kazaa, and IB off www.the-underdogs.org.

I noticed tunring off the Newspaper helped me too. Thats really unnessesary and it gets annoying. Also, turning on fast computer cuts down the RAM needed.

right click on the AA icon. go to compatibility mode. switch to 95, 98, etc. whichever works best.

I just started playing Iron blitz and it seems 98 worked on my 500 XP machine.

it all depends on the country in question. no one unit is best for all of them. but here’s my picks :) :

Russia: INF, sheer numbers can overwhelm the german war machine on a relentles march to berlin

Germany: Tanks/Armor, blitzkrieg, thats all there is to it

UK: trannies, i know it sounds stupid, but without them the UK can’t do much of anything

Japan: anything, japan needs all the help she can get on the mainland, it doesnt really matter what it is, just get units there quick

USA: Carrier w/ 2 Fighters, can we say smackdown?? they can obliterate japan’s navy while also serving to protect units in an amphib assault

now these are just my picks, they might not work for all your strats, so feel free to tweak them to work for you.

never played europe or pacific. but it seems to me that they are both merely shrunken versions of the original just with more detail. the global conquest aspect of the original is quite appealing, plus the classic game seems like it would be more challenging than the others, since it has more opponents to worry about, as well as much larger fronts to concentrate on.

Why would anyone leave Causasus (or any other buffer zone) 100% empty and allow a blitz to Russia? Even ONE IF will cause ANY German advance to stop in Caucasus (sp?)…

Reverse Axis Advantage means that Germany gets super subs and Japan gets Jet Power. It’s the “Axis Advantage” Rules in the 2nd ed. book, but for the other nations, instead.

I play once every season (fall, spring, winter, and summer). Games usually take 3 hours since we play in tournaments of three games and we try to hurry.

If anything you have more of the Axis and Allies pieces and chips than I do :D .

If it were done that way in history more bloody wars would have occurred very soon after the end of WWII. The USSR would not likely have done well as it would again be squeezed from east and west.

Not to mention all the bloody guerilla wars they would have had to fight in those countries they took over.
