I like the idea of veteran infantry. I will always want the British SAS, US Marine Core, or Waffen SS fighting on my side (YES ALL OF THEM!). Also I’ve never like mechs. I think they should have just made trucks. A bit more complitcated but interesting.

What do you guys out there think about the concept towed artillery, that is mechanized infantry being able to move artillery with it on a 1:1 basis?

We are using this in our current game. Works great! We are using Tigerman’s map along with other house rules. One of the main improvements we are working on is improving the submarine rules. The OOB rules for subs in the 1940G game are weak!

The sub rule we are trying now is 2-1-2 unit as in 1940G OOB but each DD that is declared a sub hunter rolls a die and sinks the sub on a one and locates on a two. Located or detected subs can then be attacked by CAs or additional DDs. If sub survives first round of combat then it defends at one or submerges.

Medium: Cost: 16 ipcs. Produces: 6 units per turn. Placement: 2 ipc and above territories.
Mega: Cost: 100 ipcs(200 for US). Produces: Unlimited units per turn. Placement: Capitol only: May move other factory in capitol 1 space per turn until reaching eligible destination. Moving factory may NOT travel by sea.
Island: Cost: 12ipcs. Produces: 2 units on an island per turn. Placement: On an island controlled by your country.
Mini: Cost: 5ipcs. Produces: 1 unit per turn. Placement: Any land territory owned by your country.

Turtledove’s World War could be a very good mod for G40, but it has the problem that one of the main alien landing groups starts at Poland (and holds the whole war as alien). That would totally mess any type of A&A mechanics, unless that you go ‘ahistorical’, give a token force for the Race at Poland and the focus at alien strongholds at southern hemisphere.

The alien invasion of US would be challenging for a modder, because you would have to mod USA’s territories. A mod best suit for AABattlemap or TripleA, but not for real board

Any case, it would need a VPs system to allow individual victories. And plenty of nukes. Also, different units and costs for Race and humans, with Race being uber-units but costly, and humans being crappy units but horribly cheap

For alien invasions in WWII, not only Turtledove, but also Hearts of Iron series and mods include some alien cheats or scenarios

Maybe Larry should make a cold war game.  The start time could be the day after V-J day.

Blockhouse cost 2, defend at 3 or less, can stack but not move.

Blockhouse cost 6 and boost all Infantry and artillery +1 on defense all rounds up to the IPC value of the territory.

A 4 IPC space will only boost 4 units of these types +1.

Bring in all the mec/arm combinations and double supporting artillery you want.  at 37 IPC’s a turn, I’m putting 18 men on the board each round.  Germany is not going to be able to do anything about that.

Oh and lets not forget, once I have a fat stack, if things don’t look good, I can call in the Russian winter, and defend with a $2 unit at 3 or less.

The Russians can go civil war. Interesting idea about the Germans getting cheaper subs and better fighters I might try to impelment those.

In round 501 there is so much equipment on the board that the players, who are not drunk under the table, decide to put some cloths on over their bikini/thong swimsuits and go to a dance club.  Then men will never know, they’re unconscious and why should we women give up a good night of frivolity just because our genetic donors are asleep?

Also in regards to the arty that speciall attack would be like this.

At the begining of combat if there are 2 or more SPA’s in combat they fire each one shot and hit on a roll of 1, units hit by this cannot fire back.

But maybe this rule is to overpowered it seemed cool on paper but I dunno hehe, just seems to much and I wanted to keep the SPA cost low.

Also I Thought up of a speciall ability for the SPG. Since it is an anti tank wep as long as it is defending you can call a specific target wich must be an armored vehicle.

Edit: Also I was thinking of adding Heay tanks only for Germany and USSR since they where the only ones who reallky used them in the war.

I am planning on printing one of IL’s maps. I’ll probably use his smaller AA50 and size it to 48x24.

And also, that is not true about china taking control of the british territories. They can occupy, but not control. Even if india is japanese.

Knp7765 is right.  China can control those territories if India is held by the Axis.  The wording is a bit ambiguous in the Rulebook, but that’s the intent.

“Kwangtung and Burma are special cases. While they are not Chinese territories and cannot be controlled by China, Chinese forces can attack axis units there and occupy them, but the ipcs generated go to the United Kingdom (unless India is under Axis control). These are the only non-chinese territories that chinese units can occupy”

This specifically states that china can’t control them, only occupy. I inferred that the place where it says (unless India is under axis control) simply meant that the ipcs obviously wouldn’t go to india in this case. In fact, this whole paragraph can be boiled down to simply…

“China can defend/take kwangtung and Burma.”

And then obviously you would know that they couldn’t take it unless india was axis controlled.

Well in fairness I suppose… they were more about BUILDING morale… but whatever same thing.

I figured out what these are about. I didnt make the file and i have it saved for many years and not sure where i got it from.

Letter A= attack
Letter D= Defense
Letter S= strategic commander
Letter T= Tactical commander
Icons indicate +1 for the the listed icon for those units.

Strategic commander is a commander that you assign to a front ( western or eastern, etc)
Its effect can be for any units in combat in that front.

Tactical commander is a commander you place in an specific area that is physically with the units, if the units die the commander dies.

I suspect you have only one SC and about two TC in each front and not more than three fronts.

One thing i didn’t figure out was a total of three commanders have SSDA. I am not sure what the extra S means. It could be a surprise attack allowing it to fire first at +1 each round?
