Sure, I’m fine with Axis.  Actually I might want to try Sealion anyway.  After looking pretty thoroughly into it with Jim I think I know the optimal strat to take London, might just want to see how you react.  :lol:

Yeah lets start another game soon with the current ruleset.  I believe the Axis will be better matched than before.

I saved money for Germany just to test out your response.  It makes Allied players paranoid when Germany or Japan saves money, and they tend to get very conservative quickly, building INF and whatnot for their capitals.  In this case I was about to Sealion UK and capture it in 2 rounds with 13 Air Units and 22 Land Units if you didn’t go total defense for UK.

Japan would have captured India again, and the Dutch East Indies.  Sure, USA is at sea zone 6, but Japan can make Minor ICs elsewhere and force you to invest heavily in land units and transports.  Japan was well situated for taking Sydney too in 2 rounds.  China was the problem but not too bad just yet.

USA was quickly facing the problem of a conquered UK, India, and Sydney…

There have been tons of changes to Alpha-3 in the last few days.  I’m inclined to cancel this game, sift through the changes, and begin a new game - I’d like to spend my time testing and playing the most up-to-date rules.

Yeah the problem is that if japan doesn’t attack for the first 3 rounds, then USA can’t put together enough to retake UK and HOLD it.  Retaking it just to hand it back to the Germans is just stupid.  In this game, I went all in to Europe one more turn would have had me in Italy.  Oh well live and learn.

I’ll be finishing up my finals today, this new understanding of the convoy change is kind of leaving me out in the breeze, I shall proceed with my plans, although I’ll be more vulnerable then I imagined. Live and learn.

Yeah, I see the strategy you were trying out and it seems well conceived, specifically in choking America on her coasts with CRD, if an outright invasion isn’t possible.

I wasn’t committed to it until I bought the TTs on G2.

Germany 1 and 2 are Naval Builds with Sea Lion on G2. Japan Pearl Harbors on J2 with landing force on Haw. One of my mistakes seems to have been to allow you to Pearl in the first place, destroying the entire initial Pacific Fleet. That was a mistake on my part. It seems best to retreat the Americans to sz 10 with, perhaps, a DD blocker in sz 25. There, America can at least divide up their starting Naval Fleet; gives them options. Also, it would mean with more U.S. Navy, your plan (invading U.S. coastline) would only work if the U.S. failed purchase management.

My guess was you would think I was a fool for buying those TTs and be lax in the Europe side.  I also thought you’d smell blood in the Pacific and go hard there.  I didn’t think you’d see it.  Almost worked.

My second tactical mistake with America was not recognizing the EUS invasion you planned, which was obvious enough, or I would have made the sz 101 Naval odds more airtight by sending the undamaged CV I sent to sz 26 to sz 101 (the 5th FTR would have been present in EUS to scramble as well), which would have given you ~40%.

At that point, I would have gone for it anyway.  I was commited.

The overall German Plan seems to weaken Germany too much against Russia and it has low probability of success if the U.S. plays reasonably (not making my poor tactical choices). I’m not even sure at what point it’s best to conquer an under-defended UK - perhaps G2 is too early, no matter what the odds.

Keep in mind, that if I bought ground units with that $68 on G2, I would be a at least a match for Russia in terms of ground forces.
